Jody's Halloween Tale

Jody, a young Jamaican girl, recently moved to the USA. Halloween approached, and she was excited but felt a little out of place. Her new friends talked of pumpkins and witches, while back home, she remembered tales of duppies and rolling calves.

Wanting to share a bit of her culture, Jody decided to tell her classmates about the Anansi stories her grandmother told her. Anansi, the tricky spider, always had a plan up his sleeve.

On Halloween, Jody wore a spider-web dress, representing Anansi. As the night grew dark, she began her story around a fire pit, capturing the attention of all the children. Her tale was of Anansi trying to gather all the world's wisdom into a pot but realizing that wisdom was meant to be shared, not hoarded.

The children were enchanted. They asked her more about Jamaica, its folklore, and traditions. That night, Jody felt a warmth in her heart, realizing that while she was in a different country, stories had the power to bridge gaps and bring people closer.
