Max and the Talking Vegetables
In a small town where the sun always shone, there was a curious young boy named Max who loved to play with his round, bouncy ball. Every day, he would bounce it, throw it, and roll it. It was his favorite toy.
One morning, while Max was playing in his yard, the ball bounced away and landed in Mrs. Brown's vegetable garden next door. Max knew he shouldn't go into her garden without asking, but he really wanted his ball back. So, he decided to climb over the low fence and get it.
Inside the garden, Max was amazed. Huge vegetables were everywhere: carrots as tall as lamp posts, cabbages the size of cars, and tomatoes that looked like red beach balls. But there was something even more surprising: the vegetables... talked!
"Hello, young man," said a deep voice. Max turned and saw a giant carrot with a kind smile. "Looking for this?" The carrot held up Max's ball.
"Yes, thank you!" said Max, relieved.
The carrot chuckled, "You're welcome. But remember, always ask before you enter someone's garden."
Max nodded, "I promise I will next time."
As he was about to leave, a big tomato called out, "Wait! Would you like to play a game with us? We rarely have visitors."
Max hesitated but then thought, "Why not?" So, he played hide-and-seek with the vegetables. He laughed and had the most fun he'd ever had. After the games, Max thanked the vegetables and promised to visit again — with Mrs. Brown's permission, of course.
From that day on, Max and the talking vegetables became the best of friends, sharing many fun afternoons together. And Max learned the importance of asking for permission and respecting others' spaces.
